CleanFuego Story

From an Idea to a Game-Changer

Back in 2017, two brothers wanted to improve baseball player’s ability to train their spin efficiency. Past methods, like drawing equator lines on a ball or using a hockey puck, had some benefit but were desperately lacking.

So, the brothers took two years to research and design the OG CleanFuego. The OG Fuego is a unique, patented training device that provides baseball players and coaches with immediate visual feedback about a throw.

Identifying the Need

Changing The way players train

CleanFuego looks like the love child between a hockey puck and a baseball. The foundation of CleanFuego is to help athletes visualize the efficiency of their throw. Hide the sides. Avoid it wobbling. Avoid it cutting in the air.

Pitchers can work on various pitch designs with Fuego including curveballs, sliders, and changeups. And position players can also benefit by training with Fuego. Players training with Fuego have seen improvement in throw-downs and glove transitions.

Developing the Solution

The Flyos are made of a material that allows athletes to warm-up against a wall, so there isn’t a need for a throwing partner or a net. You can throw them into the ground or lay on your back and toss them up towards the ceiling. And they have a texture and stitches, so athletes can easily blend a Flyo with a baseball or softball.

The Starter has a leather exterior for the feel of a baseball; however, it doesn’t have the same center of mass like a baseball, which we've mimicked with the CleanFuego Regulation and Overload. This makes the Fuego Starter much easier to throw “cleanly” and without wobble. When we tested it among some pro guys that we knew had poor spin efficiency, most could and would make the Starter fly clean. So, not too great for development at higher levels, but useful for young athletes transitioning grips and learning to understand the concept of backspin.

How do I know if I'm using CleanFuego® correctly?

HIDE THE SIDES! That's the foundation of CleanFuego. When you throw CleanFuego from your normal arm slot, you don't want to see the flat sides of the ball while it’s in flight. You should be able to get CleanFuego to fly straight and clean (no wobble, no cut) between 30-50'.
